Pauline Claes

Belgium
Mezzo-soprano

Belgian mezzo-soprano Pauline Claes is an eclectic performer, regularly appearing in opera in the baroque and classical repertoires (in Valladolid, Metz, Brussels, etc.) as well as on the musical comedy stage (Frankenstein Junior, West Side Story, etc.). She is also known for exploring contemporary territory, notably with the globe-trotting "Pierrot Rewrite" project based on Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire with the Musiques Nouvelles ensemble, and F. Berlanger's "Iwona, une opérette électronique" project. Her interest in theatre has led her to take part in multi-disciplinary shows such as crazy operas (Cie Dérivation), circus (Cie Les Mains Sales), object theatre (Cue Les Karyatides) and plays presented at the Théâtre National, La Balsamine and Les Tanneurs, among others. She also composes pop music.
